🌍✨ Culture Quest: Discovering Our Stories, Celebrating Our Worlds
🎒 An Afterschool Adventure for Ages 8–11
🌟 Curiosity. Connection. Celebration.
Kids at this age are natural detectives—curious about who they are and the world beyond their doorstep.
Culture Quest invites them on a vibrant, hands-on journey to explore diverse cultures, traditions, and histories with respect, creativity, and joy.
This program helps students build a deeper understanding of their own identity and the beautiful tapestry of cultures around them—through storytelling, art, movement, and real-world projects that bring culture to life.
🧭 How It Works
Each week brings a new “quest” filled with exploration, creativity, and reflection through:
📚 Global Storytelling: Dive into folktales, myths, and stories from different cultures—unpacking lessons and values.
🎨 Creative Cultural Projects: Make crafts, music, dance, and cooking activities inspired by global traditions.
🤝 Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): Cultivating empathy, respect, and curiosity about cultural differences and similarities.
🗣️ Sharing & Celebrating Identity: Students explore their own family heritage, traditions, and stories, then share with classmates in meaningful ways.
🌍 Community Connections: Learn how culture shapes community—and even impact local celebrations and traditions.
🛠️ Sample Missions
Culture Quest invites kids to become cultural explorers with projects like:
🎭 Storyteller’s Stage: Act out a folktale or myth from a culture different than their own—and write their own version.
🎨 Crafts from Around the World: Create Mexican papel picado banners, Aboriginal dot paintings, Indian rangoli patterns, or West African masks.
🍴 Global Kitchen: Explore simple, no-cook recipes or food traditions from around the world, then design “menus” or food maps.
🎶 Dance & Music Mashup: Learn dances and rhythms from various cultures—and mix them to create their own “Culture Quest Anthem.”
📖 Culture Scrapbook: Build a personal scrapbook or digital presentation about their family heritage, traditions, or a culture they admire.
🎉 Culture Quest Festival
At the program’s finale, students host a vibrant Culture Quest Festival where they:
🎤 Perform stories, songs, or dances from their quests
🎨 Exhibit their crafts, scrapbooks, or creative projects
🌎 Share food traditions, recipes, or cultural games with families and peers
