🌍🎉 World of Us: Celebrating Culture with Curiosity & Kindness

🎒 An Afterschool Adventure for Ages 5–7

🌈 Big Curiosity. Open Hearts. A World of Wonder.

Children are natural explorers—full of questions, imagination, and wide-eyed wonder.
World of Us is a joyful afterschool journey where young learners celebrate the many cultures, languages, foods, music, and traditions that make our world (and their classroom!) beautifully diverse.

Through stories, songs, crafts, and movement, kids grow empathy, curiosity, and pride in their own culture—while discovering how others live, love, learn, and celebrate.

🧭 How It Works

Each week, kids go on a playful, age-appropriate adventure that blends:

📖 Storytelling & Representation: Picture books and folktales from around the world to spark understanding and connection.

🎨 Hands-On Creativity: Kids make art, crafts, and simple cultural creations inspired by the traditions they explore.

🎵 Movement & Music: Singing, dancing, and games from different cultures get kids moving and laughing together.

🧠 Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): Focused on empathy, kindness, respect, and celebrating what makes each of us special.

🌍 “Culture Spotlights” that celebrate kids' own families, languages, holidays, or foods in simple, inclusive ways.

🛠️ Sample Missions

Every session is a new discovery, with playful activities like:

🎨 Colorful Cultures Collage: Create a classroom collage with flags, foods, and fun facts from kids’ families and countries around the world.

📚 Storytime Around the World: Read a story from another culture, then act it out or draw your favorite part.

🥁 Move to the Music: Try drumming like in West Africa, dancing like in Mexico, or clapping games from Japan!

🍲 Tasty Traditions (Pretend Play): Create “pretend meals” with clay or paper from different countries’ favorite foods.

🧵 Pattern Play: Make Maasai-inspired bead art, Japanese paper fans, or rangoli chalk designs—all adapted for little hands.

💬 Hello Around the World: Learn how to say “hello” and “thank you” in a new language each week—and make a mini phrasebook to take home.

🎉 World of Us Celebration Day

At the end of the program, families are invited to a joyful World of Us Celebration, where kids:

🎤 Share songs, dances, or simple greetings they've learned
🎨 Display their crafts, flags, or “All About Me” posters
🌍 Invite families to share stories, snacks, or traditions (optional + inclusive)
🎓 Receive “World Explorer” Certificates and a take-home “passport” of their learning

It’s a celebration of each child—and the big, beautiful world they belong to.

🎁 Take-Home Kits

Each explorer receives a World of Us Kit filled with:

🌎 “My Culture Passport” with stamps, drawings, and memory pages
📚 Mini storybook or folktale
🧩 “Kindness Across Cultures” activity cards
🖍️ DIY flag or craft templates
🎶 Global music playlist link (kid-friendly & dance-ready!)

🌟 What Kids Walk Away With

🫱🏽‍🫲🏼 Empathy: Toward others who look, speak, or celebrate differently.
