Middle schoolers are ready to go beyond learning—they want to lead. They see the climate crisis, and they’re eager to take action that matters. Youth Climate Leaders is a hands-on, youth-driven afterschool program where students dive deep into climate science, explore social and environmental justice, and design bold projects that inspire change. It’s part lab, part leadership incubator, and 100% student-powered.
🧭 How It Works
This program combines:
🧠 Systems Thinking: Understand the big picture—how energy, industry, policy, and communities all connect in the climate story.
🎨 Creative Activism: Use art, media, and storytelling to communicate climate challenges and solutions.
⚙️ Design Thinking for Change: Empathize → Define → Ideate → Prototype → Test → Launch real projects in school or community.
🗳️ Civic Engagement: Learn how to influence policy through campaigns, petitions, and youth councils.
🤝 Collaborative Leadership: Work in teams to tackle local climate issues, building communication and project management skills.

Students choose or co-create projects tailored to their interests and communities, such as:

Build and showcase solar ovens, wind turbines, or energy-saving devices to educate peers.

Design and launch a garden or tree-planting initiative that improves local air quality and biodiversity.

Audit school waste, then create recycling or composting programs that reduce landfill impact.
