💻🗣️ Kind Online: Digital Changemakers Rising

🎒 An Afterschool Leadership Lab for Safe, Empowered Digital Spaces (Ages 15–18)

🧠 Truth-Telling. Boundary-Setting. Culture-Shifting.

Teens already know that the internet can lift you up—or tear you down.
They see the toxic comments, group chat drama, cancel culture, and pressure to be perfect.
They’re also the ones best equipped to change it.
Kind Online: Digital Changemakers Rising is a bold, youth-led afterschool program where high school students take the lead in tackling cyberbullying, shaping digital culture, and designing real solutions for safer, kinder online spaces. It’s not just about awareness—it’s about action.

🧭 How It Works

This isn’t a lecture series. It’s a youth think tank meets creative campaign lab, built for real conversations and real impact.

We focus on:

🧠 Digital Culture & Power
Unpack cyberbullying, cancel culture, identity, privacy, digital boundaries, and the influence of algorithms and platforms.

🎯 Restorative Digital Leadership
Explore how to respond, repair, and reclaim online space from cruelty and chaos. Learn to lead with empathy, accountability, and agency.

📢 Student-Led Campaign Design
Teens co-create projects that raise awareness, build empathy, and shift peer norms—through social media, film, art, performance, or tech-based solutions.

🌀 Design Thinking for Social Change
Empathize → Define → Ideate → Prototype → Launch. Every team builds a solution that matters—to them and their community.

🗳️ Civic & School Policy Engagement
Explore how school policies, laws, and platforms shape the online experience—and how to advocate for change.

Facilitators act as mentors. Students drive the movement.

🛠️ Sample Projects + Missions

Students choose or co-create their own missions, with full support for creating projects that fit their voice and style:

🎥 #ReclaimTheFeed Campaign
Use social media to counteract cyberbullying, spread messages of authenticity, or spotlight safe content creators.

🎭 Drama-Free: Skits That Start Conversations
Write and perform short scenes about real digital dilemmas—from subtweeting to sexting to online shaming—and lead peer dialogue.

📱 Digital Detox Diaries
Design a challenge to help students explore tech balance, self-worth, and how screen time affects mood and relationships.

🎨 Zines, Memes & Media for Good
Create zines, posters, or visual storytelling pieces that reflect students’ lived experiences online and their vision for something better.

🛑 Change the Policy
Research school or district policies on cyberbullying and social media. Pitch updates, present at a board meeting, or launch a petition.

🧠 Digital Ethics Debates
Host a student-led debate series or roundtable on tricky digital topics: anonymity, freedom of speech, screenshot culture, doxxing, and beyond.

🎉 The Digital Changemaker Summit

The program culminates in a powerful Digital Changemaker Summit, where students:

🎤 Present campaigns, videos, and policy proposals
🎭 Perform skits, host panels, or lead mini-workshops
🖼️ Host gallery walks of zines, infographics, or data projects
🎓 Receive recognition, service hours, and optional microgrants

It’s not a performance. It’s a movement.

🎁 Tools for Impact

Each participant receives a Digital Changemaker Toolkit:

📒 Portfolio Template (perfect for college apps or internships)
🧰 Campaign Planning Tools (media planner, policy pitch deck, workshop scripts)
📚 Resource List (on cyberbullying, restorative practices, tech + mental health)
📜 Certificate of Completion + Service Hours Log
🎖️ Optional: Access to mentorship, mini-grants, or summer internships
