Wild Friends Forever
Wild Friends Forever is an engaging animal protection education program for Grades 3–5 designed to help students understand the importance of animals in ecosystems, the threats they face, and the role people play in helping protect them. Through interactive lessons, real-world connections, storytelling, advocacy, and outdoor activities, students explore both local and global animal welfare issues. The program empowers young learners to become compassionate, informed, and active protectors of all animals—wild and domestic.
🎯 Program Goals:
📚 What Students Will Learn:
🧠 Sample Activities:
-
Deepen students' understanding of animals’ roles in ecosystems.
-
Highlight the threats animals face from human activity, climate change, and habitat loss.
-
Inspire empathy and compassion for wild and domestic animals.
-
Equip students with tools to advocate for animal welfare and environmental protection.
-
Encourage critical thinking, collaboration, and civic responsibility.
By the end of the program, students will:
-
Understand food webs and the ecological importance of different animal species.
-
Identify common threats to animals (pollution, habitat destruction, poaching, climate change, etc.).
-
Recognize the interconnectedness of humans, animals, and the environment.
-
Learn how individual and collective actions can protect animals.
-
Build communication and advocacy skills through storytelling and creative expression.
-
Develop a personal sense of agency and responsibility for nature.
1. Ecosystem Explorers: Web of Life Game
Objective: Understand ecological interdependence.
Activity: Create a giant web using string to connect different species (plants, prey, predators, humans). When one "species" is removed, students see how the web unravels.
2. Animal Advocates: Case Study Circles
Objective: Investigate real-world animal issues.
Activity: In small groups, students research a species in danger (e.g., sea turtles, elephants, bees). They answer: What are the threats? Why does this animal matter? How can we help?
