THE SOCIO-CONSCIOUS CORNER

PRIVACY POLICY

Effective Date: September 10, 2026
Last Updated: September 10, 2026

The Socio-Conscious Corner (“SCC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides a developmental learning and application environment designed to support educators in understanding developmental principles, translating those principles into educational practice, designing developmental opportunities, documenting evidence, and examining evidence across experiences over time.

This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, stored, shared, and handled when individuals visit The Socio-Conscious Corner website or use the SCC Operating System.

This Privacy Policy should be read together with the SCC Terms of Use and, where applicable, an Institutional Access Agreement or other agreement between SCC and a school, school district, educational organization, or research partner.

1. Information We Collect

The information SCC receives depends on how an individual uses SCC.

Account Information

When an individual creates or uses an SCC account, information may include:

  • name;

  • email address;

  • authentication information;

  • account role;

  • institutional membership information; and

  • account and access status.

Authentication services may process additional technical information necessary to authenticate users through available sign-in methods.

Institutional Information

When SCC is used through a school, school district, or other educational organization, SCC may maintain information such as:

  • institution name;

  • institution type;

  • institutional access period;

  • authorized educator allocation;

  • organization administrator information;

  • institutional membership records;

  • institutional access status; and

  • enrollment and access-control information.

Institutional enrollment codes are used to establish authorized membership. They are enrollment mechanisms rather than ongoing shared login credentials.

Practitioner Information

Educators may provide information while using SCC's learning and application functions.

Depending on the function used, this may include educator reflections, educational contexts, observations, professional reasoning, project information, developmental planning, evidence descriptions, documentation, interpretations, educator-confirmed records, and other information entered as part of professional use of SCC.

Student Evidence

Educators may use SCC to document evidence generated through educational experiences.

Evidence may include student work, student reflections, student words or transcripts, educator observations, group work, photographs or images, audio or video, presentations, and other educational evidence.

SCC does not require student names for ordinary Project Evidence documentation.

Educators are instructed to avoid including student names or other unnecessary identifying information. Where an identifier is useful across experiences, educators are encouraged to use a consistent non-identifying label such as “Student A” or “Group 2.”

Because educators control the information they enter or upload, submitted materials may nevertheless contain identifying information.

Uploaded Files

Educators may upload files as Project Evidence.

New Project Evidence files are stored using private file storage rather than permanent public artifact URLs.

The SCC application maintains an internal file reference associated with the applicable evidence record. When an authorized user requests access to a stored file, SCC verifies applicable authorization and ownership before providing temporary access to the file.

Research Information

SCC may separately support authorized research activities.

Research information may include pseudonymous participant records, research instruments, survey administrations, survey responses, measurement records, and related research information.

Research information may be governed by separate research protocols, consent or assent processes, institutional review requirements, data agreements, or other research-specific terms.

Research information may therefore be subject to a different retention or deletion process from ordinary institutional practitioner records.

2. How We Use Information

SCC may use information to provide and operate the SCC website and Operating System; authenticate users; establish and administer institutional access; maintain user and institutional memberships; provide SCC learning and application functions; generate and maintain educator Projects; support evidence documentation; support developmental analysis; examine evidence across experiences over time; provide AI-supported functions; maintain system security and authorization; diagnose and address technical problems; administer institutional relationships; respond to support, privacy, or data requests; conduct separately authorized research; and maintain, improve, and develop SCC.

SCC does not use educational evidence to independently determine that a student possesses a particular capacity or has experienced developmental growth.

3. Artificial Intelligence

Certain SCC functions use artificial intelligence and related computational services to support educator reasoning and analysis.

Depending on the SCC function used, educator-entered text and textual evidence may be processed through AI-supported services.

This may include information used in developmental translation, analysis, documentation, or tracking.

Textual student evidence entered into DOCUMENT or incorporated into TRACK may therefore be processed through SCC's AI-supported functions.

Uploaded Project Evidence file contents are not automatically provided to DOCUMENT or TRACK AI analysis merely because a file has been uploaded.

AI-generated or AI-supported content within SCC is intended to assist professional reasoning. It does not independently establish student capacity, student motivation or internal state, developmental change, developmental growth, educational effectiveness, or any other developmental conclusion.

Educator review and professional judgment remain part of SCC's developmental process.

SCC does not make representations regarding an underlying AI provider's retention, model-training, or other data practices unless those practices have been established through applicable provider documentation or contractual commitments.

4. How Information Is Shared

SCC may make information available to technology and service providers when reasonably necessary to operate SCC, including services that support hosting, authentication, storage, artificial intelligence, communications, and other technical functions.

SCC administrators and SCC's underlying technology providers may have technical administrative access where necessary to operate, secure, maintain, or support the service.

Organization administrators do not receive access to an educator's Projects, Project Evidence, DOCUMENT records, TRACK records, or other substantive practitioner work merely because the educator belongs to their institution.

SCC may also disclose information at the direction of an authorized user or institution, where necessary to perform an applicable agreement, where required by law or lawful process, or where reasonably necessary to protect SCC, its users, or others from security threats, fraud, abuse, or unlawful activity.

SCC does not sell student information for advertising purposes and does not use student evidence for targeted advertising.

5. Student Privacy

SCC is designed so that student names are not required for ordinary Project Evidence documentation.

Educators should avoid entering unnecessary identifying student information and should use non-identifying labels where practical.

Schools, districts, educational organizations, and educators are responsible for determining what student information they are permitted to collect, upload, document, or otherwise process through SCC.

Institutions are also responsible for obtaining any notices, permissions, consents, or other authorizations required for their particular use.

SCC does not represent through this Privacy Policy alone that every institutional implementation automatically satisfies FERPA, COPPA, state student-privacy laws, or other educational privacy requirements.

Where appropriate, SCC and an institution may enter into additional privacy or data-processing terms.

6. Practitioner Privacy

SCC uses application-level authorization controls to separate practitioner work.

Educators do not ordinarily receive access to another educator's practitioner records merely because they belong to the same institution.

Organization administrators administer institutional access but do not, solely because of that role, receive access to educators' substantive Projects, evidence, DOCUMENT records, TRACK records, or other practitioner work.

SCC administrators and underlying platform administrators may retain technical access necessary for administration, maintenance, support, security, or other authorized operational purposes.

7. File Privacy and Access

New Project Evidence files are maintained in private storage.

When a user requests access to an attached Project Evidence file, SCC verifies authorization through the application before generating a temporary access link.

Temporary links expire after a limited period. A temporary link functions as an access credential while valid and should not be shared with unauthorized persons.

SCC's current underlying platform does not provide SCC with an application-level operation for permanently deleting an individual stored private file object.

If the database record associated with a private artifact is deleted, the underlying stored object may remain on the platform even though it is no longer discoverable or retrievable through ordinary SCC application functions.

SCC may need to coordinate with its platform provider where deletion of stored files is requested.

8. Data Security

SCC uses technical and organizational measures intended to protect information appropriate to the nature of the service.

These include individually authenticated accounts, server-side institutional authorization, practitioner ownership controls, private Project Evidence storage, and temporary authorized file retrieval.

No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.

SCC does not represent that particular encryption-at-rest standards, security certifications, backup schedules, data-residency commitments, recovery objectives, or other platform-managed controls exist unless those representations have been separately verified.

9. Retention

Information may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to operate SCC, maintain authorized institutional and practitioner records, fulfill applicable agreements, support legitimate administrative or research purposes, comply with applicable obligations, or resolve disputes.

Expiration or termination of institutional access does not automatically delete information.

SCC does not currently promise automatic deletion after a fixed retention period unless such a period is established through a separate written agreement that SCC can operationally support.

Research information may be subject to separate retention requirements established through an applicable research protocol, agreement, or authorization.

10. Data Deletion Requests

Institutions and users may contact SCC regarding applicable data-deletion requests.

Because practitioner records are associated with individual educator accounts and are not currently assigned exclusive organization-level provenance, SCC may need to verify and define the appropriate scope of an institutional deletion request before deleting practitioner information.

Where deletion is appropriate and technically supported, SCC may delete applicable database records.

Deletion of source evidence may also require deletion or withdrawal of analyses derived from that evidence so that unsupported conclusions are not preserved as evidence-grounded findings.

Certain stored-file deletion may require coordination with SCC's underlying platform provider.

SCC does not represent that a deletion request immediately or permanently removes every copy from platform recovery systems, backups, version histories, or stored-file systems unless such removal can be verified.

Research information may be subject to a separate deletion process.

11. Accounts and Institutional Access

A user's SCC account and the user's institutional authorization are separate.

Expiration, termination, or deactivation of institutional access does not automatically delete the user's underlying account.

Similarly, deletion of practitioner content does not necessarily require deletion of the user's account.

Account deletion requests may require separate processing through SCC's underlying account platform.

12. Children and Student Participation

SCC is primarily designed as an educator-facing professional learning and application environment.

Students do not need ordinary educator accounts in order for educators to document educational evidence within SCC.

Certain separately designed research or student-response activities may involve student participation and may be governed by additional research, institutional, consent, assent, or privacy requirements.

SCC does not knowingly invite children to create ordinary educator accounts.

13. Privacy Requests

Individuals or institutions may contact SCC regarding requests concerning applicable personal information.

Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, requests may concern access, correction, deletion, or other handling of information.

SCC may need to verify the identity and authority of the requester before acting on a request.

Certain requests may be limited by applicable law, contractual obligations, research requirements, technical limitations, or the rights of other individuals.

Privacy requests may be sent to:

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

SCC may update this Privacy Policy as its services, practices, technology, or obligations evolve.

When changes are made, SCC will update the “Last Updated” date. Additional notice may be provided where appropriate.
