TERMS OF USE

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern access to and use of The Socio-Conscious Corner website and SCC Operating System.
By creating an account, accessing the SCC Operating System, or otherwise using services governed by these Terms, you agree to these Terms.
If you use SCC on behalf of or through a school, school district, educational organization, or other institution, your use may also be governed by an Institutional Access Agreement or other agreement between SCC and that institution.
Where an applicable institutional agreement conflicts with these Terms concerning institutional access, the institutional agreement controls to the extent of that conflict.
1. The SCC Service
The Socio-Conscious Corner provides a developmental learning and application environment intended to support educators in understanding developmental principles and applying developmental reasoning in educational settings.
SCC may provide interconnected functions including:
LEARN — Develop educator understanding.
TRANSLATE — Make sense of educational experiences developmentally.
PRACTICE — Develop and strengthen developmental practice.
IMPLEMENT — Design and develop developmental experiences.
DOCUMENT — Collect, organize, analyze, and interpret evidence.
TRACK — Examine evidence across experiences over time.
SCC may update and refine these functions as the system develops.
2. Developmental Purpose
SCC is based on an important distinction:
Educational opportunity is not the same as developmental outcome.
The design of an educational experience may create an opportunity for development, but it does not establish that a particular developmental experience or outcome occurred.
Likewise, student behavior, participation, assigned responsibility, or performance in a single experience does not independently establish capacity, agency, developmental change, or growth.
SCC is designed to support careful professional reasoning about these distinctions.
3. Eligibility and Accounts
Users must provide accurate information when creating and maintaining an SCC account.
Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their account credentials and for activity conducted through their accounts.
Individual account credentials may not be shared.
If you believe your account has been accessed without authorization, contact SCC at contact@thesocioconsciouscorner.com.
Institutional access may require both an SCC account and an active institutional membership.
Having an SCC account does not, by itself, guarantee access to institutionally restricted SCC functions.
4. Institutional Access
Schools, school districts, and educational organizations may provide SCC access to authorized users.
Institutional enrollment may require an access code provided by the institution or its organization administrator.
An access code establishes institutional enrollment. It is not a shared user account.
After enrollment, access is associated with the user's individual SCC account and institutional membership.
Institutional access may end when the applicable access period expires, an institution deactivates a user's membership, SCC deactivates institutional access, the applicable institutional agreement ends, or access is otherwise suspended or terminated under these Terms.
Loss of institutional authorization does not automatically delete the user's SCC account or practitioner records.
5. Organization Administrators
An institution may designate one or more organization administrators.
Organization administrators may manage educator enrollment and educator access within their institution.
Organization administrators do not receive access to educators' substantive practitioner work merely because of their administrative role.
Users may not attempt to use organization-administrator privileges to circumvent SCC practitioner-privacy controls.
6. Educator Responsibility
SCC supports professional reasoning. It does not replace educator judgment.
Educators remain responsible for educational decisions made in their professional practice.
Users should evaluate SCC-generated material in context and should not treat AI-generated or system-generated content as independently establishing facts about a student.
Educators remain responsible for determining whether and how SCC-generated information is appropriate for use in their educational context.
7. Student Information
Do not enter student names or other unnecessary identifying information into SCC when such information is not needed.
Where an identifier is useful for documenting evidence across experiences, use a consistent non-identifying label such as Student A or Group 2 where practical.
You may submit student information or evidence only when you and, where applicable, your institution are authorized to collect and process that information.
Users are responsible for following applicable institutional policies concerning student work, images, recordings, educational records, and other student information.
Do not upload student information merely because SCC technically permits an upload.
8. Uploaded Content
You retain whatever rights you otherwise hold in content you submit to SCC.
By submitting content, you authorize SCC and its service providers to process that content as reasonably necessary to provide, secure, maintain, and administer the SCC functions you use, subject to applicable agreements and law.
You represent that you have the authority necessary to submit content to SCC.
You may not knowingly upload material that you are prohibited from possessing or processing, unlawfully infringes another person's rights, contains malicious software, is submitted for an unlawful purpose, or violates applicable institutional policy or law.
9. Artificial Intelligence
Certain SCC functions use artificial intelligence.
AI-supported outputs may assist with organization, analysis, interpretation, reflection, and developmental reasoning.
AI outputs can be incomplete, inaccurate, or inappropriate to a particular context.
SCC AI outputs are not independent determinations of student development.
Users should not treat AI-generated content as independently establishing diagnosis, student capacity, motivation, intent, developmental status, developmental growth, academic ability, or another conclusion that is not supported by appropriate evidence.
Educator review and professional judgment remain necessary.
10. Evidence and Developmental Interpretation
SCC distinguishes observation from interpretation and developmental conclusion.
Evidence from a single experience describes evidence available from that experience.
A single occurrence does not, by itself, establish developmental change over time.
SCC's TRACK functions are intended to help educators examine evidence across experiences. Developmental change should be interpreted in relation to the quality, sufficiency, consistency, variation, and context of available evidence.
Users should not present provisional SCC interpretations as established facts where available evidence does not support that conclusion.
11. Acceptable Use
Users may not share individual credentials; knowingly distribute institutional enrollment codes to unauthorized persons; circumvent authentication, authorization, or ownership controls; attempt to access another educator's practitioner records without authorization; attempt to obtain private stored files without authorization; interfere with SCC's security or operation; introduce malicious software; use automated methods to abuse or materially disrupt the service; impersonate another person; submit information they are not authorized to process; infringe SCC or third-party intellectual-property rights; or use SCC for unlawful purposes.
Users may not reproduce SCC proprietary materials for the purpose of creating or operating a competing commercial product without authorization.
12. SCC Intellectual Property
The Socio-Conscious Corner, the Socio-Conscious Leadership Framework™, SCC-created developmental architecture, learning materials, system materials, designs, content, terminology, software, and other SCC-created intellectual property remain the property of SCC or its applicable licensors.
Your right to use SCC is a limited right of access and does not transfer ownership.
Authorized users may use SCC materials for legitimate educational and professional purposes.
Users may not sell, sublicense, commercially redistribute, republish, reverse engineer, or reproduce SCC proprietary materials for unauthorized commercial use.
Nothing in these Terms prevents educators from applying professional knowledge or learning developed through legitimate use of SCC in their educational practice.
13. Research Activities
Certain SCC functions or experiences may operate as part of separately authorized research.
Participation in research may be subject to additional information, consent or assent procedures, institutional review requirements, research agreements, or other terms.
These Terms do not replace research-specific requirements.
Research data may also be subject to a separate retention and deletion lifecycle.
14. Privacy
Use of SCC is subject to the SCC Privacy Policy.
If you use SCC through an institution, additional privacy or data-processing terms between SCC and the institution may also apply.
15. Service Changes
SCC may update, modify, improve, replace, or discontinue features as the service evolves.
Where an institution has purchased access under a separate Institutional Access Agreement, that agreement governs the applicable institutional commitment.
16. Availability
SCC seeks to maintain a reliable service but does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability.
Maintenance, technical failures, provider outages, security events, or circumstances outside SCC's reasonable control may temporarily affect access.
Unless separately agreed in writing, SCC does not provide a guaranteed uptime percentage or service-level commitment.
17. Suspension and Termination
SCC may suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary because of violation of these Terms, unauthorized access, misuse of institutional access, security threats, unlawful activity, material nonpayment under an applicable institutional agreement, or other material misuse of SCC.
Where reasonably practicable, SCC will provide notice before suspension or termination.
An institution may separately deactivate a user's institutional membership.
Termination of access does not automatically delete information.
18. Data Deletion
Users or authorized institutional representatives may contact SCC regarding applicable data requests.
Deletion depends on the nature of the information, the requester's authority, applicable institutional or research obligations, and SCC's technical capabilities.
Deletion of underlying evidence may require deletion or withdrawal of related analyses to avoid preserving unsupported evidence-grounded conclusions.
Certain stored-file deletion may require coordination with SCC's underlying platform provider.
SCC does not guarantee that deletion immediately or permanently removes all copies maintained through platform recovery systems, backups, version history, or stored-file infrastructure unless such removal can be verified.
19. No Guarantee of Educational or Developmental Outcomes
SCC does not guarantee developmental growth, academic improvement, behavioral change, educator performance, institutional performance, student engagement, student agency, educational effectiveness, or any particular outcome resulting from use of SCC.
SCC helps educators design developmental opportunities, document evidence, and reason about development.
It does not convert educational design into proof of developmental outcome.
20. Disclaimer of Warranties
SCC is provided on an “as available” basis.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, SCC makes no warranty that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from all technical defects.
SCC does not warrant the accuracy or completeness of AI-supported outputs or guarantee any educational, developmental, institutional, or professional outcome.
Nothing in these Terms excludes any right or warranty that cannot lawfully be excluded.
21. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, SCC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to use of or inability to use SCC.
SCC is not responsible for educational or professional decisions made solely in reliance on AI-generated or system-generated output.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability to the extent that such liability cannot lawfully be limited.
Where use of SCC is governed by an Institutional Access Agreement containing different liability terms, that agreement controls with respect to the applicable institutional relationship.
22. Governing Terms
These Terms are governed by applicable law.
Where an Institutional Access Agreement or other written agreement establishes different legally applicable governing-law, venue, procurement, or dispute-resolution requirements, that agreement controls with respect to the applicable institution.
23. Changes to These Terms
SCC may update these Terms as its services, technology, practices, or obligations evolve.
SCC will update the “Last Updated” date when changes are made.
Where a change materially affects an existing institutional agreement, the applicable institutional agreement continues to govern according to its terms unless the parties agree otherwise.
24. Severability
If any portion of these Terms is determined to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect to the extent permitted by law.
25. No Waiver
Failure by SCC to enforce a provision of these Terms does not waive SCC's right to enforce that provision later.
26. Entire Terms
These Terms, together with the SCC Privacy Policy and any applicable written institutional agreement, constitute the applicable terms governing use of SCC.
